HEADS OR TAILS: Bottle Inventions!

THIS week's theme/prompt is:
HEADS - "Bottle"

So if you read my blog you know i always have to throw something unusual into the theme as always! So here are some weird bottle inventions (I couldn't think of another word for it lol)

Bottle Car: (you fancy riding in this!?)
Bottle Top Shoes: (I'm serious!, I found that people in Africa make and wear these)
This one is weird yes, but at the same time makes me feel a little sad for the people who wear them :(
Bottle Christmas Tree: (If the bottles were full they wouldn't last very long in my house lol)

Those bottles would be empty here too!

Two imaginative ways to interpret the theme!

Yeah.. It IS sad about the shoes. But at least the bottles are being used instead of sitting in a landfill?

My dog would knock that tree down the first time she ran to the door to be let out. :)

You know, someone out there is thinking up a way to market those shoes as I type. I expect to see them on the Paris runway in the spring.

I've seen the bottle christmas tree before...and y'know? I think it's kinda cool. I bet it's really quite pretty when the sun shines through it.

Mine is lame for bottle. But, I just added a bit o' fun to it also. Come by if you can.

Your bottle creations, make me wonder, how is it that we have people with so much they dress their vehicle up as a bottle and people with so little they wear bottles as shoes...

The first Christmas me and John were together I found out what he used to decorate his Christmas tree...beer bottle caps. Yeah, that didn't last very long! LOL

That is an inventive way to make shoes. Who would have thought about bottles for shoes.

Very interesting shots.

There is a festival we celebrate among the Chinese community, called the Mooncake/Lantern festival, usually around September.

At a mall here the Lantern making competition requires you to make use of anything you can recycle and we have seen quite a few amazing creations out of plastic bottles.

Sorry, have not taken any photos of those lanterns though.

p/s- Just added you to my Blog-buddy list.

I would think there could be a zillion more materials (better materials) available for shoes. How about at least some scraps of cloth to wrap on between the bottle and the foot? Sometimes I think maybe Africans would be better off if EVERYONE just got the hell out of there. Maybe they don't advance because they haven't had to. Like that line, you can give a man a fish he'll eat for a day, but if you teach a man how to fish he'll eat for life. Why don't we teach the Africans how to fish and stop doing everything for them? It's 2009, the richer nations of the world have been donating to the various causes of Africa for how many decades? Yet it's done no visable good? The technology is there and it's way better than walking on plastic bottles.

Whew. Sorry for that rant. I just see no reason why people should live like that and it makes me mad.

Very interesting choice of photos. Yes, seeing photo Nr. 2 is definitely sad, yet thought-provoking...I'm glad you posted it.
In answer to Frigga's entry: there are various organizations that do in fact 'teach' rather than 'do everything for them', however the donations rarely end up where they are needed most, i.e. supplying tools, building material etc.
One also needs to consider the many barriers created by age old traditions, limiting thoughts and cultural differences.
I hope that one day we - as a human race - are able to close the gap.
